It’s Mo Month at Slade Group – a time to put the spotlight on men’s health.

Did you know that globally, a man dies by suicide every minute, prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men, or that testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men?

A quick refresh: Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues. Movember’s aim is to stop men dying too young by tackling some of the most complex health issues facing men today, including mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Amongst the Slade Group team we’re not just about supporting this cause; we’re actively growing our involvement! This month, our consultants have come together to support Movember, raising awareness and funds for men’s health initiatives.

From a moustache-growing competition to a bit of fun with our face-swapped photos, we’re going all out for the cause. Led by our very own Movember ambassador and Practice Manager, Barry Hodson, who started the tradition in our office, our team has grown (both in members and moustaches) and includes our mo sisters – women who are important allies.

Andrew Barr will also be taking on the Move for Movember challenge, aiming to complete 60km over the month. This distance represents the 60 men we lose to suicide every hour across the world, and is a reminder of why we’re putting our hearts into this initiative.

Men’s health remains a challenge that many men struggle to talk about. Getting personal, most of our team has been touched by Movember, whether it’s their own experience of cancer, mental health, or the premature death of someone close to them. We’re hoping to create a space for these conversations, so feel free to approach any one of us for a quiet chat. By participating in Movember, we’re showing our commitment to each other’s wellbeing.

You can help us support Movember by donating on our page, spreading the word, or even joining our team’s efforts. Let’s change the face of men’s health together, one moustache at a time! Keep an eye on our LinkedIn for updates and photos of the ‘staches as they take shape over the month.
